Shannon’s Dream

Shannon had a dream
The women were all sitting in a circle with the quilt blocks spread out beneath them on the floor. They admired the colors, fondled the fabric, and smiled at the kaleidoscope of patterns. Which one did they want?
Jess liked the Spider’s Web knowing her boys would love the thought of spiders tangling in her blond hair
Brenda and Amie, both Variable Stars, quibbled, quietly.
Bobby, a true southern girl thought Almost a Yankee would be funny
Alia and Pam ever photographers liked the framed nine patches
Kristina dibbsed the Courthouse steps for her husband the lawyer
Tropical Fish reminded Betty of home.
How about the Fourth of July spinner? She enjoyed the adventures she’d had working in the Capitol.
It was truly a Kaleidoscope. All these friends she wanted to remember. Shannon couldn’t decide. She wanted them all.
